New Zealand Rosella

The eastern Rosella is a brightly coloured, broad-tailed parakeet native to south-eastern Australia. It was introduced to New Zealand in the early 1900s, and is now common over much of the North Island, with a smaller population centered on Dunedin

Eastern rosellas eat a wide range of seeds, fruits, flowers, buds and shoots and occasional insects.

Breeding is between October and January. They usually nest in cavities in trees or dead tree fern trunks, laying 4–6 white eggs which the female incubates for 22–24 days. The chicks fledge at around 30 days and remain with their parents for several months.

They are often present in small but fluctuating numbers on Tiritiri Matangi.

Helping Yourself

Life is like a roller coaster, there are many ups and downs and on occasion the downs just get too much and depression creeps in. We try to put a smile on our face for everybody as we dont want to appear weak or needy, but when this happens we need to reach out to our family, friends, Doctor and counselor but we also need to distract ourselves.

For me Photography is my go to, it helps me focus whilst at the same time allowing me to do something that I Love. So I would love to continue sharing my work with you all and hope you enjoy what I capture through the eye of my camera lens.

And remember

Depression isn't a weakness its an illness and with the right help it can be treated, remember your not alone...
